May I take your Hand

May I take your Hand
by Rosie Israel
July 13, 1998

May I ___ take your hand?
May I ___ be on your side
for all the years to come?
Let me hold you, as they pass along our pact.

In the fullness of time,
I will give you the memories
that you deserve to have.
I will crown you with the joys
that were before denied
or that you never expected to have.

I want and need you to be proud,
of your life, our home, and of her
whom you let into your privacy.

You will feel my respect and my love.
You will be able to have my patience and my attention.
You now give all of this to me so freely,
so to love you back is the only rightful thing to do.

So let's hold hands, until time makes them
fragile, frail, full of creases, until each shapes the other,
for as long as our breath makes it possible
to clasp each other's heart and soul,
so no sorrow can ever touch them.

"We each have our own way of living in the world, together we are like a symphony.
Some are the melody, some are the rhythm, some are the harmony
It all blends together, we are like a symphony, and each part is crucial.
We all contribute to the song of life."
...Sondra Williams

We might not always agree; but TOGETHER we will make a difference.
