The Lesson

Yes, and so much more.
You taught me how to feel whole,
how to feel alive, how to feel
free from myself.
I loved it, loved all of it.
But as quickly as you gave
it to me, you took it all away.
Its over, finished and done with.
It will never be again.
With you I grew and learned about
love and life.
I learned about love, trust, patience and how
to care about someone else.
This is the lesson I learned.
I wish I could say that I didn't enjoy it,
now that its all over.
But I can't do that.
Because I don't regret for a second
the lesson you taught me.
