Standing Alone
by Elaine

Say please, thank you, and may I.
I'm happy to smile and say hi.
Now remember, How are you today?
Pleased to meet you on your way.
Don't slouch in that chair,
Be sure to comb your hair.
Feet off the furniture when we are out,
It's the home of another, don't pout.
You must mind yourself today,
There comes a time there is no play.
Work in this manner to make your living,
Get good grades if you want the giving.
These are things we all should do.
So it is said to carry us through.
A world of wishes for everyone this way.
It's said to bring us hope someday.
Yes, it does in some fineness,
But for children they struggle crying.
We want to play, leave us alone,
For us, we want to stay home.
We don't care where you want to go,
Leave us in peace to stay down below.
The blankets and pillows over our head,
Being what you want is the same as being dead.
Standing alone is friendly to me, it is where I usually be.
Alone with my children waiting for them to see.
The world with their own path to fly free.
Now we can dip and refresh in the sea.
