Guilty

The bitterness in me
Is something hard to face
Stemming as it does
From a general contempt
For other people and ideals.

I would and have denied
Most vehemently this possibility
When put forth by others
As any pseudo-saint
Would deny his own shortcomings.

But I am guilty
And I pay the price in loneliness
Which is mostly self-inflicted
And grows increasingly painful
The more I isolate myself
From life and other lives.

But knowing this
Has not brought peace
Nor relief as of yet
And I just don’t know
How to reverse the flow.

Undated, maybe 1978

"We each have our own way of living in the world, together we are like a symphony.
Some are the melody, some are the rhythm, some are the harmony
It all blends together, we are like a symphony, and each part is crucial.
We all contribute to the song of life."
...Sondra Williams

We might not always agree; but TOGETHER we will make a difference.
