Nine Thousand Days

I’m speaking from a new reality
Where am I?
And where is my memory?
I’ve got a feeling I’ll miss it
An awful lot.

Perhaps I’ve never
Really known anything
And my ears
Have been closed
To anything but noise
From my birth
To this moment.

Have I really lived
For twenty-five years
In some self-contained vacuum?
…Most or all
of nine thousand days
in some distorted cocoon?

I don’t know
But besides feeling freer now
I’m also somewhat perturbed
By the disconcerting , disconnected
Quality of my first quarter-century

"We each have our own way of living in the world, together we are like a symphony.
Some are the melody, some are the rhythm, some are the harmony
It all blends together, we are like a symphony, and each part is crucial.
We all contribute to the song of life."
                             ...Sondra Williams

We might not always agree; but TOGETHER we will make a difference.
